Hi there. Wonder if you've got babies on the brain like me, or plan to have them in the future like me?

I've been thinking for ages about the things which get seriously overlooked or even forgotten about when you have kids, and one of them, sadly, is thinking about baby names, what you're going to name a baby when it's born. I have my top ten here in my head, ready for the big day when I have a partner and I'm expecting, and the big decisions have to be made...

I don't like anything boring and normal like Matthew, Luke, Jamie or Amy, Hayley or Charlotte, because they'll get labelled with the initial letter of their surname cos there'll be five other kids with the same name, all in the same year at the same school or college. I went nosing round on Babynamer.com for the perfect names, also picking them up from Harry Potter or the television, so, here they are.

1. Emilia Jade. 2. Lilia Kay. 3. Rhianna Claire. 4. Hermione Kay. 5. Hedwig Charlotte Elizabeth. 6. Parys Jordan. 7. Aled Jonathan. 8. Albus Jonathan. 9. Tyrese Courtney. 10. Taliesin James.

Well, I'm certainly not going all slapdash and picking them off the top of my head, am I?

If i ever get a child, I might call it Patricia, or Kim.

Post 6 by bozmagic (The rottie's your best friend if you want him/her to be, lol.) on Tuesday, 28-Mar-2006 16:45:28

O dear Ines! Any Patricia or Kim is over 60 years of age these days. They're not young names really, but all the unusual names are circulating like mad. Look at five of my cousins. My aunt over here in England names her two daughters Kezia (pronounced Kezzia) for the benefit of people like her form tutor when he takes the register in the mornings and Tegen (pronounced Teggan). My cousin, who's also Jen, over in the states named her three children Devon, Tatum and Brynne.

Well, I'm not even sure whether I want to even have my own children yet, at least through giving birth to them, but I have some names that I like anyway, in case I end up changing my mind someday. *smiles* here are some names I’ve thought of. I want their names to be unusual as well, someone I don’t already know with those names or just because there not common at least that I’ve heard of.) I like all of them for the sound, meaning, and usually the spelling. For boys, I like: Sean Holden (the s-e-a-n spelling of Shawn and Holden I actually got from “The Catcher in The Rye”), Reagan Alexander, Enrique Ulises (pronounced enreihkeh ooleihsehs), Hayden Eugene, Emilio jesús (pronounced emeeleeoh hehsooss), Aidan Haley, Esra Zane, Mikkeli Nehemiah, Zachary Chase, and Zebadiah Christopher. For girls I like: Anastasia Marie, Madeleine Renae, Dakarai Abeni, Avrielle Mariah (Avrielle being a combination of Avril and Gabrielle), Enrica Xaviera, Fedilia Carmen (the last two names are supposed to be the Spanish pronunciation), Leah Riley, Rhiannon Kera, Regan Azalia, and Layla Aleksandrea.

Aledfan you have a cheek to complain about patricia ect,if my parents had chosen any of names you deem suitable I'd have sued them for everything. Kezia is a good name for a dog, or an exotically bred horse, and as for Teggen, it sounds like a new type of high performance petrol

Oo Eck! Well, yeah, they're unusual, but over the 11 years Kezzie's been around I got used to it and everyone who knows her's used to it now, same with Tegen who's now eight.

I want children someday. I can't think of any boy names I really like right now but as far as girl names, I really like Clowie, katie, Mazy, Angel, and Alison. I love the sound of Japanese, and other Asian girl's names but I'd have to be sure of the name's translation beforehand!

For a boy's name I love Darius though I've hard of only two pepople named it and they are both African american, not that i have a problem with that. For a girl not sure.

I hope to have children one day. I'm not sure what I'd name them though. I thought that, maybe, for a girl, I'd combine mine and my sister's name, and make LeAnn Elizabeth. That's not a set in stone name, but just an idea. My sister and brother in law are having their first baby in October. If it's a girl, they want to name her Amelia Grace. If it's a boy, Aidan Christopher.

My daughters name is Melody thought it would go well. I told her she's the Melody of my heart and he would be the lyric to my soul smile.

Well, I love children, and I love punns. This is a dangerous combination, and maybe that's why God didn't see me as fit to be a father. I also love music. If I had a girl, I'd want to name her Amanda Linda. Of course, for short, I'd have to call her mandolin.

Girls, I think it depends on the last name of the guy who'd end up as your partner. I can't really think of names, but I'd want to go with something that's not going to cause a lot of confusion among people trying to read it, especially teachers.
